How Pathway Helps
Substance use often develops as a response to pain, stress, trauma, or overwhelming life circumstances. At Pathway Therapy, we approach drug and alcohol addiction through a trauma-informed lens, recognizing that healing requires safety, understanding, and individualized care—not judgment or pressure.
Not everyone knows where to begin. We help clients assess their current needs, determine whether outpatient therapy is appropriate, and make referrals to detox, residential, or intensive treatment programs when a higher level of care is necessary. Our priority is helping each client take the right next step toward stability and recovery.
Our Specialized Approach
Support for individuals ready to pursue change
Pathway is well suited for those who recognize that substance use has become unmanageable and are ready to explore meaningful, sustainable change at a pace that respects their readiness and history.
Trauma-informed understanding of addiction and family impact
Our clinicians are trained to understand the cycles of drug and alcohol addiction, how trauma and stress contribute to substance use, and the emotional impact addiction has on partners and families.
Breaking through denial with care and respect
We help clients move beyond denial or minimization in ways that are collaborative and non-shaming, supporting insight, responsibility, and motivation without retraumatization.
Careful assessment of the appropriate level of treatment
We assess whether outpatient therapy can support sobriety and stability, or if a higher level of care is needed, and provide thoughtful referrals when necessary.
Step-down support after intensive treatment
Specialized addiction therapy is available for clients transitioning from inpatient treatment, detox, or hospitalization, helping maintain progress and prevent relapse.
Group therapy for connection and accountability
Group therapy offers a structured, supportive environment where clients can build accountability, reduce isolation, and strengthen recovery through shared experience.

Who We Help
Teens, Young Adults, and Adults Ready for Change
Whether someone has recently recognized their substance use is becoming unmanageable or has been struggling for years, we provide a safe, structured space to begin recovery. Our therapists help clients move from ambivalence to commitment, and from commitment to lasting change.
Individuals Trying to Maintain Sobriety After Treatment
Many clients come to Pathway as step-down support from inpatient, hospitalization, or residential programs. We help them stabilize, build accountability, and learn the skills needed to prevent relapse and sustain a healthier lifestyle.
People Caught in the Cycle of Addiction
For those unsure why they keep returning to alcohol or drugs despite consequences, we help identify the emotional, psychological, and relational drivers of addiction. Breaking denial and understanding the addictive cycle are core elements of our work.
Families Impacted by a Loved One’s Substance Use
Addiction affects the entire system. We help parents, partners, and family members understand the dynamics of addiction, create healthy boundaries, and support recovery without enabling destructive patterns.
Clients Looking for Group Support and Accountability
Our group therapy program offers a recovery-focused community built around support, honesty, accountability, and shared goals. Guided by the principles of Patrick Carnes’ Facing Addiction, clients learn to build skills, deepen insight, and find encouragement from others who understand their struggle.
Those Unsure of the Right Level of Care
Not everyone knows where to begin. We help clients assess their current needs, determine whether outpatient therapy is appropriate, and make referrals to detox, residential, or intensive programs when a higher level of care is needed.
