The release of the iphone in 2007 dramatically changed the way we live and interact.  Many challenges have been created for teens and adolescents, particularly in the areas of social and relationship development, which is one of if not the most critical psychological task around this age.  We offer individual therapy, as well as an an intensive group program to help teens and young adults:

Increasing Isolation

  • Withdrawing from family, friendships, or in-person activities

  • Choosing online or gaming time over social events they once enjoyed

Loss of Interest in Hobbies or Responsibilities

  • Declining academic performance or incomplete assignments

  • Abandoning sports, clubs, or creative interests

Emotional Dysregulation

  • Irritability, anger, or anxiety when asked to stop using technology

  • Mood swings tied to wins/losses in games or online interactions

Escaping Into Screens

  • Using gaming or the internet to cope with stress, sadness, or boredom

  • Relying on online spaces to avoid real-life conflicts or uncomfortable feelings

Loss of Control

  • Difficulty stopping or limiting screen time, even with consequences

  • Repeated attempts to cut back followed by return to old patterns

Distorted Sleep and Daily Rhythm

  • Staying up late to game or be online

  • Daytime fatigue affecting school, work, or social functioning

Dishonesty or Secrecy Around Use

  • Hiding devices, minimizing usage, or deleting browsing history

  • Becoming defensive when asked about time spent online

Physical Symptoms

  • Eye strain, headaches, poor hygiene, or lack of movement

  • Changes in appetite or inconsistent routines

Impact on Identity and Self-Esteem

  • Self-worth tied to online status, achievement, or social feedback

  • Difficulty tolerating real-life challenges or disappointment
